The Challenge

B2B and B2C Integration:

The primary challenge was managing B2B and B2C operations within a single store. The client needed a way to differentiate between B2B and B2C customers, ensuring that each group received the appropriate features, pricing, and privileges. This required a system that could handle different customer types while maintaining a unified storefront.

Inactive B2B Customer Creation:

The client also required the ability to create inactive B2B customers upon registration. Typically, this functionality is unavailable in Shopify, which poses a challenge. The client wanted the ability to review and verify new B2B registrations before activating them manually, ensuring that only legitimate customers gained access to their B2B portal.

ERP Integration and Order Tagging:

The client's ERP system integration presented another challenge. They needed to manage order tags differently based on whether they originated from a B2B or B2C customer. This requirement aimed to streamline order processing, inventory management, and fulfillment while maintaining separate workflows for different customer types.

The Solution

B2B and B2C Management via Tags:

Our team implemented a tag-based solution to address the challenge of managing B2B and B2C operations within a single store. We utilized Shopify's robust tagging system to differentiate between B2B and B2C customers. This allowed us to assign specific tags to each customer, enabling customized pricing, features, and access to the B2B portal while maintaining a unified shopping experience.

Inactive B2B Customer Creation:

Although Shopify does not natively support creating inactive customers, we developed a backend script to fulfill this requirement. When a B2B customer registered using the provided form, we created an inactive customer profile in Shopify. The G-Form team would verify the customer's details and manually activate their account, ensuring that only legitimate B2B customers gained access to the B2B portal.

ERP Integration and Order Tagging:

We implemented an ERP integration solution to manage order tags differently based on customer type. We connected the client's ERP system with their Shopify store through seamless API integration. This integration allowed us to automatically assign unique order tags to B2B and B2C orders, streamlining order processing and fulfillment while providing accurate inventory management and reporting data.
